The Island of Manihi

SCUBA DIVING
"Shoot the Pass"
Some divers refer to shooting the pass as a terrific adrenaline rush. They ride the rush of water on the ocean current between the ocean and the lagoon. Tens of thousands of fish pass by as the lucky diver enjoys the dive of a lifetime!

Outside the reef the variety and numbers of fish are nothing short of spectacular.
Popular divesites are located at Tairapa Pass, The Break and the Circus.

Manihi, World Capitol of Pearl Production. The World's most sought after gem, the Tahitian Pearl, is produced here in over 60 pearl farms. The lagoon waters here are perfect for cultivating pearls becasue of the temperature, density, salinity and lighting conditions. Of course there is a beautifull lagoon here and romantic walks along the edge of the lagoon and coral trains are a must.

Mahini in the Tuamotu Island Atolls

"... the crystal clear lagoon was once filled with mother-or-pearl and is the site of Tahiti's first pearl farm..."

Bask in the sun on the honey sand and swim i the fabulous lagoon. Snorkel in the calm and warm waters with thousands of fish swimming along side you. They frolic in front of your mask and disappear into a cloud of brilliant tropical colors. See cavally, napoleons intermingling with cod, perch, loach and wild growing fauna.

How about exploring the lagoon in a glass bottom boat (these were first introduced in French Polynesia).
