Aerial Tours
"Flightseeing" excursions over Bora Bora
are possible via Heli Inter-Polynesie and Heli-Pacific. Passengers
fly to the top of Mt. Pahia, and have the option of hiking back
down on foot or returning by chopper. The air service also charters
flights to other islands. |
Bora Bora name
came from ancient times when it was call Pora Pora, meaning "First
Born". Captain Cook mistook the name for Bora Bora and that is
what non-natives call it today. |
| The placid waters that surround Bora Bora
are perfect for sailing vessels. You can charter your own yacht, hire
a crew for a full or half day. |
Bora Bora is a perfect
haven for those who love 4 by 4 treking. The interior harbors jungle
roads that lead the lucky few to high panoramic vistas. You can even
see the large naval guns left unused by the end of the Second World
War. |
Shark and Ray Feeding
Although the idea of feeding live hungry sharks may sound a little dangerous
it is now immensely popular in Polynesia. It all started in Bora Bora,
years ago. First you don your snorkel and mask and float in the shallow
lagoon waters behind a fixed rope. Docile sharks arrive in schools and
are hand-fed by the guides. The ritual is repeated with Manta Rays!
The famous artist Guaguin loved Tahiti and
so will you. He ended his days here but not before sharing his vision
of he beauty of Tahiti with the rest of the World.
